Even when everything is going right, it can feel like it's going wrong. That's the part nobody talks about. You come back from France. Dreams are coming true. New opportunities every day. And somehow you're still sitting in the dark wondering what's wrong with you. That's Depression Sucks. I painted this piece as soon as we got back, right at the start of the Las Emociones Series. Because I needed to be honest. I still struggle - regularly. Even in the middle of the good stuff. But l've learned something. In the middle of that darkness, you have to shine harder. You have to push past the limits other people tried to build for you. I spent too long listening to people who had zero relevance to my career. No more. I believe in myself. I believe in my talent. I believe in God. I've had too many near-death moments to count. And I'm still here. Still painting. Still processing emotions by creating during the confusing times.
