THE THEOLOGIAN, THE PHILOSOPHER AND THE NATURALIST presents an imaginary encounter between three distinct ways of trying to understand the world: reason, faith and the observation of nature.

At the centre is the philosopher, identified by the yellow tones and the books surrounding him. On the right, the naturalist appears surrounded by animals, connected to nature and to the search for knowledge through observation. On the left, the theologian seeks to enter the debate, accompanied by a presence that is both angelic and demonic, introducing the tension between the sacred and the profane, faith and doubt.

Around the three main figures, other characters, animals and symbolic elements create a dense composition in which different ideas seem to intersect and confront one another. Each character represents a different way of interpreting and understanding reality.

The painting brings reason, faith and direct experience of nature into confrontation, while also addressing questions of rules, norms, prejudice and ideologies. The debate between these three figures becomes a reflection on how we form our convictions and how we respond to what challenges what we believe.

The primary colours red, blue and yellow have a strong presence, contrasted with black and white, reinforcing the intensity of the composition.

THE THEOLOGIAN, THE PHILOSOPHER AND THE NATURALIST proposes an open-ended debate, leaving the viewer free to question their own certainties and the way they interpret the world around them.

Note: The work is framed in a black frame.
