“Dawn at Forte do Presépio” explores the rising sun as a symbol of human transformation, set against one of the most emblematic landmarks of my city. This work was born during a time in my life when the grief of losing my father felt suffocating. Although years had passed, the pain of his absence still felt so recent. I wondered how I could possibly go on living another day without that dear friend who had passed away. Gradually, I found in art a way to express what words could no longer convey. It was then that I came to understand: there will always be a new dawn, capable of dispelling the darkness. The work does not promise that night will never fall again, but rather offers the understanding that we can embrace it, for no night lasts forever. Dawn thus emerges as a message of patience, hope, and new beginnings. A reminder that, even in the face of absence and sorrow, life finds ways to bloom once more. Created using mixed media, the painting incorporates threads applied to its surface, introducing tension, movement, and a spatial structure that extends the work beyond the traditional boundaries of painting.
