Year:

Residual Garden develops through a process of accumulation, interruption, and adjustment. Broad passages of color, gestural marks, and transferred textures coexist without settling into a fixed order, creating a landscape that feels both constructed and unstable.

Organic forms emerge and dissolve across the surface, suggesting traces of growth, memory, or transformation rather than identifiable subjects. Areas of dense black paint act as interruptions within the composition, while vivid yellow, green, and pink elements introduce moments of expansion and resistance.

Created on Awagami paper, the work embraces fragility as part of its language. A small wool element extends beyond the painted surface, introducing a tactile connection between image and object. Rather than resolving tensions, the work remains open and provisional—a garden not of certainty, but of remnants, fragments, and possibilities that continue to evolve.
