Medium & Technique:

“Schlossing” – Water painting without water, created on a recycled laminated building sheet, strengthened and waterproofed for permanence.
This technique involves pouring, finger-painting, and using gravity to guide thick liquid poster paints. Layers are sun-baked for texture and contrast, then sealed with multiple coats of automotive clear acrylic lacquer to ensure longevity. The process results in a multi-layered vision — in this case, ten separate paintings transcending into one final expression.

Inspiration & Meaning:

“9/11 – Lest We Forget” is my subconscious vision of the tragic destruction of the Twin Towers in New York. The painting depicts the moment when terrorist-flown aircraft struck the towers, releasing flames and jet fuel into the elevator shafts. Fire roared upward, filling the sky with smoke, chemicals, and deadly asbestos dust, carried across miles of the city. This toxic fallout did not stop at Ground Zero — it spread invisibly into air-conditioning systems, offices, homes, public transport, and beyond, embedding itself into the lives of millions.

The work reflects not only the immediate devastation but also the slow, silent suffering that continues. Countless survivors, first responders, and civilians endure painful asbestos-related illnesses, dying slowly in the shadow of this catastrophe. I write this as an asbestos victim myself — someone who knows the long battle of breathing dust that scars the lungs, yet often without sufficient medical or governmental support.

This painting stands as both a memorial and a warning. It honors the pain and endurance of New Yorkers, survivors, tourists, firefighters, and all those touched by the events of September 11. The imagery is layered with passion, suffering, and remembrance, expressing the depth of trauma while reaching toward healing.

With this work, I endeavor to connect with survivors, asbestos victims, and particularly the New York Fire Department, offering a free copy of my vision as tribute to their sacrifice and resilience.
