The Architecture of a Gesture
In abstract expressionism, knowing what to leave untouched is just as critical as the paint we apply to the canvas.
My latest piece explores a different dialogue with the substrate. Moving away from heavy, monolithic masses, this work focuses on the physical speed of the line and the strict tension between three elements: the broad, textured black brushstrokes that create the vertical rhythm, the fluid containment of the red, and the vibrant, near-three-dimensional overlay of pure orange.
By letting the white background dominate the edges, the central structure behaves like an open network—a psychological grid where individual gestures interact rather than collide. It is a study on presence, structural balance, and the visceral nature of contemporary action painting.
