Ananke, in Greek mythology, was the Goddess of Necessity and represented the personification of that mysterious and chaotic force capable of breaking every rule of reason. She was suspended between two worlds, she controlled the lights and shadows of men, life and death. Relentless, the faceless Goddess ruled everything by the same rules as her, regardless of good or evil. According to Plato she governed destiny and was sovereign of the psychic darkness of the human being.
