For many years, the night of the Trasladação has filled my eyes with the distinct glow of Mary’s image descending along Republic Square. Today, I present this artwork inspired by those memories and by what she represents to her devotees: strength, freedom, and light. Her dark hair flowing in the wind, her flaming mantle, and the adornments upon her head are my vision of how she might have appeared centuries ago, in the midst of our forests—deeply connected to everything around her. The Trasladação—a traditional religious procession held in Belém do Pará for centuries—marks a moment of devotion and collective faith. It is this atmosphere of movement, light, and spiritual presence that echoes through the work.
