Manzeyi Manzeyi

Rinedi MANZEYI
A contemporary Congolese painter born in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo. Currently based in Kinshasa, where he lives and works, he obtained his high school diploma in chemistry and biology in 2021 and earned a bachelor’s degree in fine arts (specializing in painting) from the Kinshasa Academy of Fine Arts in 2026.
His current artistic work is rooted in the preservation of memory, the intimate, and the everyday. Moving away from a purely conceptual approach, he now turns toward the living world: he paints his own memories, scenes unfolding before his eyes, and fragments of the lives of those close to him. His art serves as a sensitive, visual witness to a collective and family history anchored in the reality of the Congo. He favors industrial commodity sacks (made of polypropylene) as his medium—raw materials drawn from the streets and everyday life.
His painting technique relies on a duality between figuration and geometric abstraction. After rendering his subjects realistically, he overlays a rigorous grid pattern: he applies a completely opaque white paint to alternating squares, creating a checkerboard effect that fragments the image.
