Isabelle Garcia Bautista is a French painter of Spanish heritage, born in 1963 and based near Montpellier, in the south of France. With an academic background in clinical psychology, she has developed an oil painting practice focused on the human figure for over thirty years.
After exploring various forms of figurative painting, her current research is primarily devoted to IDENTITY, a series begun in 2025 that examines the construction of the self, memory, inner fractures and the transformations that shape us. Fragmented, fractured, multiplied and reconstructed faces become territories through which she explores what lies beyond appearances.
Her work combines a rigorous command of oil painting with a reflection informed by her background in psychology. Through glazing, subtle blending and smooth painted surfaces, technique is placed at the service of presence and the psychological depth of the human face.
A member of the Fondation Taylor and a professional artist listed by i-CAC, Isabelle Garcia Bautista regularly exhibits in France while continuing to develop the IDENTITY series. In 2026, this research also led to the publication of her book “IDENTITY – The Question Is More Important Than the Answer”, conceived as an extension of her pictorial work.
